Evan's first ear infection :(

Evan was not eating well Monday and Tuesday...refusing his baby food and not finishing his bottles. On Wednesday, he was still not eating great. I had worked Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and Nate told me Evan slept horribly Wednesday night. And yesterday morning while I was sleeping from working the night before, Evan had only taken 6 ounces from 5am to 1pm. I decided it was time to call the doctor...this was more than teething. My intuition was right...Evan had "sinusitis" and a left ear infection. Poor little guy! No wonder why he didn't want to eat and wasn't sleeping well. He's on a 10-day course of antibiotics, and he will have a follow-up appointment in two weeks to make sure the ear infection has cleared.

Update: Evan is feeling much better! He's back to sleeping through (most of) the night, and his appetite is back :)

Ten Random Things about Evan---7 months old

1. Evan will spit/blow bubbles even before I start feeding him. Too funny!

2. He loves to pull on Mommy's hair. I've probably lost more hair with him doing that than I did postpartum.

3. He gives slobbery gummy kisses...so sweet! But...watch out! He's like a piranha sometimes and attacks our noses :)

4. Evan is on-the-go...doesn't sit still in your lap. If he could crawl or walk, he would!

5. When he's tired, he loves to cuddle...and it melts our hearts.

6. Evan is so amused by our two dogs, Katie and Rocco. He'll just laugh and giggle at them. They should beware though---he loves to grab at their ears, eyes, fur...anything he can get his hands on!

7. Watch out---everything goes in his mouth!

8. He recognizes Mommy and Daddy and will reach out for us---so cute!

9. Mommy taught him how to splash water in his bath tub...hehehe. He thinks it's fun and will giggle as he does it.

10. He is so patient when going out on errands, shopping, going out to eat, etc. Such a trooper! We're so very lucky!

A Day at the Park

It was such a beautiful day this past Sunday, so we took Evan to the park...he loved it! It was so cute to hear him giggling as we were pushing him on the swing.

Puking episodes :(

Evan had his third incident of puking on Mother's Day. I'm beginning to think this is more than just a stomach bug. It just doesn't seem right to me. This whole thing started about 2 weeks after we introduced formula into his diet as a supplement to nursing. There are 11-12 days in-between each episode, and it starts in the evening around 7-8pm, right before bedtime. He usually has three very large projectile episodes within a 1-2 hour time period. By "very large", I'm talking everything he has eaten from the afternoon through the evening feeding. It's happened when I've nursed him, when Nate's fed him bottles while I'm at work, etc.

Pediatrician appointment: Dr. H wasn't in, but Dr. R saw him today. He, too, was stumped with these episodes. I'm happy he didn't just call it a virus; rather, he suggested we switch to a lactose-free formula. I'm happy things are being ruled out rather than ignored. He mentioned if this happens again, in the same cyclic pattern, we'll be referred to a GI doctor.

Poor little Evan! :(

Going private...

...with our blog. Please send me your email if you'd like to be included :)

Not sure if it's a fluke...

Not sure if it's a fluke or my lack of sleep, but I could've sworn Evan said "ma" to me today. He was playing in his crib while I was folding his laundry, and he was getting tired of entertaining himself. Not sure if it's a coincidence, but he said "ma" and then "maaaaaa" while looking at me, as if he was trying to get my attention to pick him up. He's been saying "ma-ma-ma" and "da-da-da" for awhile now, but it's just been babble and has had no association with Nate or me. We'll see if he does it again...

Some Evan fluff...

Hard to believe my little man is 6 1/2 months old!
