We lost our baby yesterday

I'm having a rough time with it.  We had tried so long for this little person.  Heartbroken. Sad. Numb. Devastated.  We will always love and remember our little one who was with us for 6 weeks and 4 days.

When a baby arrives,
be it for a day, a month, a year or more,
or perhaps only a sweet flickering moment-
the fragile spark of a tender soul
the secret swell of a new pregnancy
the goldfish flutter known to only you-
you are unmistakeningly changed...
the tiny footprints left behind on your heart
bespeak your name as Mother.

Happy 19 Months, Little E!

Sunday, May 16, 2010

He likes to hide things...

Keys, for example.  And sometimes we're searching for them when we have to be somewhere or we're running behind.  The funny thing is it will be the next morning (after he hid them), and I ask Evan, "Where are my keys?"...he goes to the exact location and finds them!

I've been searching for his snack trap for about a day now, and when I went to get paper towels in our downstairs bathroom cabinet, I found his snack trap!  And I have no idea when he would've put it there!

Last week I did find a sippy cup (with milk) in that same cabinet, and it definitely had been a few days!  Yuck!

I was searching for his baby monitor and remember he had been placing things under the seat of his ride-on/push truck...and of course, there was his baby monitor!

Silly boy!

We're getting a new dishwasher!

So excited!  The one we have now is so old and barely washes our dishes.  Went to HHGregg today and found a pretty stainless steel one, a Whirlpool.  I love that the buttons are hidden so Evan won't be tempted to press them all!

18 Month Old Stats

This was Evan's first appointment with his new pediatrician, Dr. B...and we LOVE him! We love Dr. H, but we switched for convenience mostly, and I knew Dr. B from when he was a resident at a hospital where I used to work. He was always so nice, took time to find out everything about the patients, was never condescending, and one of my co-workers told me he had joined a practice up near our house. How perfect!

Evan's 18 month appointment went well...we covered his separation anxiety issues, weaning his nighttime bottle, and potty training. While we're not actively starting to potty train, he thought it would be a good idea to get a little potty for him so he can get used to the idea, which we had been planning. The only vaccine he received was the Hep A, and he'll be getting more at his 2 year appointment this Fall.

STATS:
Weight: 27lbs 7oz
Height: 33.25" (not sure how accurate that is since his head wasn't all the way at the end of the scale)
OFC: 19.75"

Easter 2010

We spent Easter in Florida this year while we were on vacation and visiting my parents. I haven't spent Easter with them in over 5 years! It was such a beautiful day...sunny and in the low 80s. Evan loved his Easter baskets from the Easter Bunny and from Grammy & Grandpa. Because our Easter egg hunt back home was unsuccessful (lots of kids and parents in this small confined area...a little overwhelming for us all!), we had an Easter egg hunt just for our little E. He would place the eggs in the basket, then empty them out...too funny!
