The sweetest words ever to come out of Evan's mouth.  He melts my heart!  I love you, Evan!

Evan's 2-year stats :)

Evan's 2-year appointment went well.  We love Dr. B; unfortunately, we'll be switching in January because of insurance.  It's not a horrible thing though...he'll be going to MY pediatrician, Dr. M.  She's great!  I started going to her when we first moved to Indiana when I was about 12 or so, just when she was starting off new in a pediatric practice.

Evan did received a few vaccines which he did not appreciate (who does?!).

Weight:  31 lbs (75%)
Height:  34 in (45-ish%)

Evan was freaked out by the standing scale, so we had to place him on the baby scale...silly boy!

Halloween!

Evan was a little monkey for Halloween this year.  Found his costume at Old Navy for $10---sweet!  Last year, he wanted nothing to do with his costume as he tried to rip it off.  This year, there were no fights!  He looked so adorable!  We went to the Halloween Party at Conner Prairie on Friday, and then E and I went trick-of-treating to a few homes on our street.  What fun!  We'll have to get a little wagon for next year as Mommy's arms were tired after hauling around a 31-pound toddler and trick-or-treat basket...hahaha!

Yo Gabba Gabba birthday fun!

Evan LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba, or as he calls it, "Ga!".  It was between that and Elmo, and Gabba won!  We kept it simple, a small get-together with a few friends, godparents, etc., and it was perfect.  Not too overwhelming for Evan.  We had Jet's pizza, breadsticks, and yummy Yo Gabba Gabba cupcakes created by Sweet Ass Cupcakes.  The cupcakes were too cute!

Family pic...Evan is not a big fan of the camera:

Big Milestone: Potty time!

Well, we're not potty-trained, but it's a great start---Evan peed in his potty chair tonight for the first time!  We haven't been pushing potty-training at all.  He has a few board books, Elmo's Potty Time DVD, and we've just been offering his potty chair right before his bath every night.  Tonight he was sitting on it, and I kind of gave him a little privacy by tidying up the bathroom sink.  As I looked down at him, he was slowly starting to pee.  I started to encourage and praise him, and he finished his business.  I'm so proud of him!  Too bad Daddy was at work and missed it, but we called him right after to share the news!

22 Months Old!

Wow!  This is actually an overdue post, as our little Evan is going to be 23 months old this month...and 2 YEARS OLD next month!  So hard to believe!  While his age can be challenging at times, Evan is so much fun...and we love him to pieces!

He drank out of the dog bowl...

...like a dog.  Gross.  And funny!  I couldn't believe it---I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him!  We keep Katie's food and water bowls gated away behind our bar.  Sometimes we leave the gate open for Katie when we're supervising Evan or if Evan is napping.  Apparently, this mama wasn't supervising her curious toddler well enough!

Speaking of dog bowls, Evan LOVES to fill up Katie's dog food bowl.  He'll scoop up her food from the bin and fill up her bowl.  It may take a few dozen times, but he gets the job done.  He even picks up the kernels that fall out of the scoop as he's filling up the bowl.

Fun in the Sun!

Yesterday was so hot and humid, and since Nate was at work, I was trying to find something fun to do with Evan.  We've been wanting to get Evan some kind of baby pool or sprinkler toy for outside, and luckily Toys 'R Us had a cute inflatable baby pool on clearance.  Evan loved it!  While I spent more time blowing it up with a manual air pump than I'd like in the sweltering heat, it was worth it!

Evan...at 20 months...and 21 months

3 more months until our little guy is 2!!!

I'm back...

I feel horrible the last post is about the loss of our baby in May.  I'm doing a lot better than I was 2 months ago...and I'm definitely in a better place.

We are truly enjoying the summer!  Evan is at such a fun age, and we love how everything is so new and exciting to him.  We've been to the zoo, Children's Museum, Michigan to visit family and friends, the pool, and the park.  It's hard to believe August is days away, but I'm okay with that.  While I love summer, I love Fall even more  :)

We lost our baby yesterday

I'm having a rough time with it.  We had tried so long for this little person.  Heartbroken. Sad. Numb. Devastated.  We will always love and remember our little one who was with us for 6 weeks and 4 days.

When a baby arrives,
be it for a day, a month, a year or more,
or perhaps only a sweet flickering moment-
the fragile spark of a tender soul
the secret swell of a new pregnancy
the goldfish flutter known to only you-
you are unmistakeningly changed...
the tiny footprints left behind on your heart
bespeak your name as Mother.

Happy 19 Months, Little E!

He likes to hide things...

Keys, for example.  And sometimes we're searching for them when we have to be somewhere or we're running behind.  The funny thing is it will be the next morning (after he hid them), and I ask Evan, "Where are my keys?"...he goes to the exact location and finds them!

I've been searching for his snack trap for about a day now, and when I went to get paper towels in our downstairs bathroom cabinet, I found his snack trap!  And I have no idea when he would've put it there!

Last week I did find a sippy cup (with milk) in that same cabinet, and it definitely had been a few days!  Yuck!

I was searching for his baby monitor and remember he had been placing things under the seat of his ride-on/push truck...and of course, there was his baby monitor!

Silly boy!

We're getting a new dishwasher!

So excited!  The one we have now is so old and barely washes our dishes.  Went to HHGregg today and found a pretty stainless steel one, a Whirlpool.  I love that the buttons are hidden so Evan won't be tempted to press them all!

18 Month Old Stats

This was Evan's first appointment with his new pediatrician, Dr. B...and we LOVE him! We love Dr. H, but we switched for convenience mostly, and I knew Dr. B from when he was a resident at a hospital where I used to work. He was always so nice, took time to find out everything about the patients, was never condescending, and one of my co-workers told me he had joined a practice up near our house. How perfect!

Evan's 18 month appointment went well...we covered his separation anxiety issues, weaning his nighttime bottle, and potty training. While we're not actively starting to potty train, he thought it would be a good idea to get a little potty for him so he can get used to the idea, which we had been planning. The only vaccine he received was the Hep A, and he'll be getting more at his 2 year appointment this Fall.

STATS:
Weight: 27lbs 7oz
Height: 33.25" (not sure how accurate that is since his head wasn't all the way at the end of the scale)
OFC: 19.75"

Easter 2010

We spent Easter in Florida this year while we were on vacation and visiting my parents. I haven't spent Easter with them in over 5 years! It was such a beautiful day...sunny and in the low 80s. Evan loved his Easter baskets from the Easter Bunny and from Grammy & Grandpa. Because our Easter egg hunt back home was unsuccessful (lots of kids and parents in this small confined area...a little overwhelming for us all!), we had an Easter egg hunt just for our little E. He would place the eggs in the basket, then empty them out...too funny!

Vocabulary explosion

Evan's vocabulary is starting to explode! Our little man is starting to say more and more words everyday. Such a smart little guy :)

Today, we were eating ice cream outside, and a little bird was under our table. He pointed to it, and said something close to sounding like "bird"...so cute!

Some recent new words:
*eyes
*nose
*mouth
*bird
*shoes
*choo choo
*night-night
*car
*banana (nana)

Slacking off...

...with blogging. It's been busy around here...school, work, chasing around an active toddler, and listing our house for sale. I promise to catch up soon :)

Evan's vocabulary

What he's saying now (not including animal sounds)...

mama
dada/daddy
Katie
sit
more
keys

uh oh (too funny...he'll say it when he drops something)
golf ball (anything golf-related)
hi
shake, shake, shake (when we shake up his nighttime bottle)

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. And there are lots of things he says in phrases/sentences, but we have no idea of what he's saying!

Two years ago today...

I found out I was pregnant with Evan! What a happy day! But...Nate didn't find out until the next morning. It didn't seem like the type of news to share over the phone while he was at work...I wanted to tell him in person :)

Two surgeries this week

Evan's eye surgery is this Friday morning...for his clogged tear duct. I learned he will be under general anesthesia which will require him to be intubated during the short procedure. I can't wait until this is all over! I just want his poor little eye repaired.

Our older dog Katie will be having surgery tomorrow morning. A couple months ago she started to limp...it would come and go. We thought it might be related to arthritis. You would never know it really bothered her as she sprints after squirrels in our back yard. She pays the price though, as she limps around our house. X-rays determined she has a torn ACL in her right rear leg.

Keep our little Evan and our furbaby Katie in your prayers...

Blogger background isues

If you've noticed a new blog background almost everyday, it's not because I'm bored with how it looks. It seems like every couple of days, my background vanishes to the Blogger default. Any ideas why this is happening? My recipe blog site has been fine, but our family one has been causing issues.

Eye surgery next week :(

While it's been long-awaited, I'm starting to get nervous about it. Evan needs to have eye surgery to repair his clogged tear duct in his right eye. He's pretty much had an issue with it since he was a few days old, and it's progressively getting worse. We've tried everything...antibiotic eye drops, massage, etc...but nothing has helped. It used to just flare up with colds, teething, etc...but everyday we have to wipe the goop from his poor little eye. I'm happy he's going to finally have it repaired, but nervous since he'll be sedated for the first time.

Keep our little guy in your prayers...

15 Month Stats...

Our little guy is getting so big!

Weight:
26 pounds, 12 ounces (75-80%)
Height: 30.5 inches (25-30%)

He's a solid guy...maybe a future Colts player??? :)

He received the 2nd parts of his flu shots, as well as his 15mo immunizations...and he was not a happy camper (I don't blame him...I was sore after one flu shot).

Fun in the Snow!

Our first official big snowfall of the season! I think we had about 5 to 6 inches of snow today. After Evan woke up from his nap, we dressed him in his snowsuit, hat, mittens, and boots. Poor little guy could barely move as he was so bundled! My parents and I took him outside, and he just stood there trying to figure out what this was all about. One of our neighbors let us borrow his sled, and my dad pulled him around in the snow. Evan loved it! He enjoyed it so much, that he cried when we brought him back inside. We'll definitely be going back out there tomorrow when Nate is home (he had to work today), so he can have fun in the snow too!

14 Months Old

I'm so behind on this blog! Evan is almost 15 months old, but I thought I'd update on what he's been up to at 14 months old.

*Walking like a champ! He started to take a few steps at a time when he turned 14 months, but during the past couple of weeks, he is walking everywhere and getting into everything!

*Loves to stack things...and he also loves to knock things down. When he was in his high chair, he stacked his sippy cup on top of his Gerber Puffs container...very creative!

*Hates wearing bibs and hats...

*Has mastered the animal sounds of goats, cows, sheep...and recently Grandpa D.'s imitation of an elephant. He's even associated a "moo" with his Little People cow.

*LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba...and Sesame Street (especially Elmo). At the beginning of YGG, he'll do a little dance and spin in a circle, followed by shaking his little butt. Too cute! And the other day, he just started laughing at Elmo.
